War and Peace of Mind: Keeping our imagination in check

Hello! Hope everyone had a good week. This post will probably be short (Unlike me).
I had an interesting conversation with a priest last week regarding the power of the imagination. We were talking about the importance of filling our minds with 'the good stuff.' Then we talked about the kinds of media I was consuming and whether those things were healthy for me or not (That just made me realize that Priests are basically Spiritual and Intellectual dietitians). Anyways, the diet that my priest friend recommended I follow was prayer first, pleasure reading next, and then maybe (if I have time) watch wholesome tv shows or movies.
That leads me to the title of this week's post. I've been reading War and Peace lately, and I've been trying to figure out whether it's the kind of work that keeps the mind healthy or not. At this point, I'm about halfway through (so another 3 years and I might be done).

Long story short, it's very melancholic. To be fair though, anyone who has read a Russian novel would be like "duh" at this point. But I think to stay positive, we need to take a break from melancholic reads like this one every now and then (especially considering the length). So in short, if we're going to get any kind of intellectual fruit from a novel like War and Peace, we need to balance it out with humor.
Short post this week, but next week will tie into this one. Stay tuned! And stay virtuously happy!
So, if you're not supposed to eat at night, why is there a lightbulb in the fridge? (Thinks an EMT who has the strangest eating schedule)
