Funny story...

I was going to avoid talking about COVID 19 entirely this week, but I guess I was so preoccupied that I didn't come up with anything of note to write about. That being said, I heard a lot of pretty fun facts that I compiled, so for your enjoyment, here they are!

Sir Robert Peel was Prime Minister of England... During the Irish Potato Famine of 1845.

The Nigerian Navy has several patrol ships in its navy... That are all named 'hippopotamus' but in different dialects.

The shortest recorded war in history is the Anglo-Zanzibar war... And it lasted 38 minutes.

The Famous Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, who brought to an end the Warring States period of Japan, was saved by a few loyal Ninja including Hattori Hanzo... Even though Tokugawa was a Samurai and most thought the Ninja to be a dishonorable group of warriors.

A guy named Charles Osborne holds the record for the longest case of the hiccups... At a whopping 68 years!

A man just broke the record for the worlds longest plank... By holding one for 8 hours and 15 minutes.

Chrysippus was a stoic philosopher around the 3rd century BC, who saw his donkey eating figs and asked a servant to help the donkey wash them down by giving him neat wine... And then he died laughing at his own joke.

We estimate Shakespeare's birthday based on the tradition that infants were baptized within three days of their birth back then. Shakespeare's baptism is recorded on April 26th, hence April 23rd is celebrated as his birthday, and the day he died. Poetic.

In another funny twist, Shakespeare's wife was named Anne Hathaway. (Although the one in our time is hardly known for her Shakespeare roles.)

Again on Shakespeare, his works are the second most published in the world, behind the Bible. The bronze medal goes to the works of Agatha Christie.

Despite Sherlock Holmes being one of the most practical men you will ever meet, his author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was a staunch believer in spirits and the occult, and his family was very happy upon his death because they knew they would still be able to communicate with him beyond the grave.

Jesus is the most famous person ever to live on earth, followed closely by the Pope. (Not a specific person, just the pope).

High heels were invented by Egyptian butchers because they didn't want step in all the blood with sandals.

Ok so that's all for now, although I might try and post something that's actually deep soon since I am now in quarantine. That being said, I am also close to getting a podcast going on the History of Heresies within Christianity. When the first episode drops on Anchor I will let y'all know just so we all have something to do in this time of idleness.

When Shakespeare was asked if he was worried if his wife would be late to see the play he said: "Fear not, my Anne Hath a way!"

Stay virtuously happy!

Hello there! It's been a while!

So just as soon as I set up a page on Facebook to help get the word out there about whatever happens to be on my mind when I write blogs,...

Although I wouldn't sell the current Anne Hathaway short, she got best supporting actress in "Le Mis", and could probably hold her own on the stage.
