I just remembered that I had some thoughts regarding this after all. Also, I have a facebook page now! If you found this through my feed you can subscribe to the page and join the crew!
I was talking with a co worker about the recent craziness surrounding the virus, and he was mentioning how more people die every month from traffic accidents (3000) in the U.S. than have died from the Coronavirus in two months.
However its also different, because its not like cars were killing 3000 people a month when they first started rolling off the assembly lines. It took years of developing higher baseline speeds and more engine power, then raising speed limits to 85 in some places. Then it took many more years till cell phones and distracted driving became a thing. It was one of those things like when you boil a frog by slowly turning the heat up and he won't jump out till its too late. COVID 19 has been the exact opposite in terms of our response. By the time people started dying, the water was already boiling, and now we are sitting at home thinking we've jumped out of the boiling pot.

However, given that our economy is tanking at the same time, it also seems like an out of the frying pan into the fire situation. But what other choice do we have?
I was just saying a few years ago to some of my friends at Wyoming Catholic that the Church might need a small persecution soon. All I meant was that it would suddenly make our faith something to work for. God seems to like to separate the Chaff from the Wheat.
Well, given how we can't celebrate public Masses anymore, I'd say this is a major challenge to face. For years, us weekly Mass goers have had the Divine Sacramental Graces bestowed on them by the Eucharist. Now suddenly, the majority of us can't receive Communion and can only experience Transubstantiation remotely.
So how do we face it without these graces?
This is supposed to be a positive blog and so far this post has been all: "No flesh shall be spared" (Mark 13:20). To leave it on a positive note, I heard that the Cathedral in Chicago will be tolling its bells every 3 hours throughout the day to remind people to pray. I'm guessing they're going off of the Divine Office, and that would be the kind of prayer that I would encourage those stuck in quarantine to pursue. With this much time on our hands, we should schedule our day around prayer instead of fitting it into our workaday schedule. With this kind of trial looming before us, we can see the graces that await us if we pass the test with flying colors. Remember that God appreciates prayers said during spiritual lows far more than highs.
Stay happily virtuous!

This is the kind of party we can have while Quarantined:
